We have got a treat for all you showjumping fans as you can watch the Rolex Grand Prix Aachen on Horse & Country TV.

Rolex Grand Slam

CHIO Aachen is one of the most prestigious equestrian events in the world. Not only is it home to Nations’ Cups in five disciplines (showjumping, dressage, eventing, driving and vaulting) it is also one of the legs in the Rolex Grand Slam.

This exciting series is the toughest competition in showjumping – offering the biggest prize, with €1m bonus going to any rider that can consecutively win three Grand Prix at Aachen, Spruce Meadows Masters, CHI Geneva and the Dutch Masters.

If that same rider then wins a fourth Major in succession, they win an additional €1 million bonus prize.

Scott Brash is the only rider in history to win the Grand Slam – he won at Aachen, Spruce Meadows and Geneva in 2015.

World’s very best

The current contender is Niels Bruynseels, who won the Dutch Masters Grand Prix earlier this year. Niels will be competing in Aachen and hoping for another win, with his top mare Gancia de Muze.

However, he faces stiff competition from the world’s very best – including last year’s winner Gregory Wathelet who will hopefully be back to defend his title.

The riders competing this year have yet to be announced, but last year’s start list reads like a who’s who in showjumping, with names including world number one Harrie Smolders, Scott Brash, Marcus Ehning, Laura Kraut, Eric Lamaze and Ludger Beerbaum.

You can watch the Rolex Grand Prix Aachen 2018 on Wednesday 25 July at 8pm AEST followed by the highlights show on Friday 27 July at 8pm.
